Why is the English dub always behind the sub?

K-dramas and Korean shows: where the dubs are (and aren't)
- Netflix, September 2026: The Scandal (September 18, Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook), Made in Korea Season 2 (September 9, Hyun Bin), Four Hands, Two Sonatas (Song Kang), The Ordinary Jackpot (Lee Jun-hyuk) and A Love Other Than Yours. Netflix dubs most of its Korean slate — open the audio menu and look for English.
- Viki and KOCOWA+: subtitles in English, Spanish, Portuguese and more, within hours of the Korean broadcast. No dubs.
- Korean variety, live broadcasts and the official broadcaster channels on YouTube (full episodes and clips): subtitles on some, none on many, dubs on none.
- Korean films: the famous ones have dubs; most of the catalogue doesn't.
How to check whether a show has an English dub
- Netflix: press play, open Audio & Subtitles, and look for "English" next to "Korean [Original]" or "Japanese [Original]".
- Disney+ and Hulu: the audio/subtitles icon while playing, then Audio.
- Crunchyroll: the audio-language selector on the episode page; series pages also filter by audio language, and the dub schedule is announced per season.
- Anywhere else: JustWatch lists the audio languages per service.
