This Privacy Policy explains what information DubMog (“DubMog,” “we,” “us”) collects when you use the DubMog mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. DubMog is operated by Octag AI LLC, and is contactable at hello@dubmog.com. By using the app you agree to this policy.
01 Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in (including with Sign in with Apple), we receive a name and email address, and we create a unique account identifier for you. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple’s private relay address rather than your real one. You can also use DubMog as a guest without signing in; in that case we create an anonymous account identifier for you and do not collect your name or email until you choose to sign in.
Purchases
When you subscribe to Pro or buy an energy pack, the purchase is processed by Apple (in the iPhone app), Google Play (in the Android app) or Stripe (on our website). We do not receive your card details. We do receive and store a record of your entitlements (whether a subscription is active and how much usage you have left) so the app works correctly across your devices.
Purchases on our website (Stripe)
On get.dubmog.com you pay on Stripe’s secure checkout page, and your card details go to Stripe, not to us. For each checkout, Stripe receives your account’s email address and DubMog account ID, the product, where the purchase started (our website, the Web Studio or the browser extension — for the extension, also what prompted the purchase and the website you were dubbing), and our Google Analytics references for your browser so the purchase, or a checkout left unfinished, can be counted in Google Analytics. Stripe sends us back what we need to deliver and support the purchase — the product, the amount and currency, and for Pro whether the subscription is active, set to cancel, and when the current period ends — and we keep that record with your account. If you leave a checkout unfinished, Stripe gives us a link that reopens it for up to 30 days, and we may email it to you from hello@dubmog.com. Depending on where you are, Stripe’s checkout may also ask whether you want promotional emails from us; we keep your answer.
Usage and app activity
To power features like your watch history and recommendations, we store activity such as the movies you link (title and identifiers), the languages you select, and how long a session ran. We also collect basic diagnostic and performance data to keep the app stable. In the browser extension we count how it is used, for example which buttons are pressed, how many seconds were dubbed and your browser’s language setting, without your name or anything from the pages you dub beyond their site name. If you remove the extension, the page that opens may ask why; that answer is counted the same way and is optional.
Microphone and speech
DubMog needs microphone access to translate live speech. Audio is captured only while you are actively using a translation session.
Browser extension: Standard mode in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
The DubMog browser extension offers a free Standard mode. In Google Chrome, speech recognition and translation run on your computer, and the audio of the tab you are dubbing never leaves it. When Chrome has one of its built-in Google voices for your language, DubMog speaks with it, and Chrome produces that voice through Google’s online speech service: the translated text (not the audio) is sent to Google for that. Other languages use a voice installed on your computer. DubMog does not receive or store that text; Google’s handling of it is governed by Google’s privacy policy. Microsoft Edge does not ship an on-device speech model, so in Edge the Standard mode sends the audio of the tab you are dubbing to Microsoft’s online speech recognition service to turn it into text, and the translated voice may be a Microsoft online voice. The translation itself still runs on your computer. DubMog does not receive or store that audio; Microsoft’s handling of it is governed by Microsoft’s privacy statement. Pro Live is unchanged in both browsers: audio is processed in the moment through Google’s Gemini API and is not retained.
Advertising data (free tier)
If you use DubMog for free, we show ads through Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may collect device and usage identifiers. On Apple devices, ad tracking is governed by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency — you control it in your device settings. Pro subscribers do not see ads.
Website, demo, and launch list
Our website, including the in-browser demo, uses Google Firebase and Google reCAPTCHA to prevent abuse, plus basic analytics to understand traffic. The live demo sends the audio or text you provide to Google for translation the same way the app does, and does not retain it. If you join our launch list, we collect the email address you submit (stored in our database) only to notify you about availability — you can ask us to remove it any time at hello@dubmog.com.
Website ad measurement
Our website (get.dubmog.com) uses Google Analytics, Google Ads, the ChatGPT Ads measurement pixel from OpenAI and the X (formerly Twitter) ads pixel to count visits, clicks on our store buttons (such as Add to Chrome) and web purchases, and to see which ads led to them. When you arrive from an ad in ChatGPT, we note which campaign, ad group and ad it was for the rest of your visit in that browser tab and report them to Google Analytics, and OpenAI’s pixel keeps an ad reference in a cookie on our site for up to 30 days, plus a random browser reference for up to a year. The pixel may also notice an email address you type on our site, turn it into a one-way code (a SHA-256 hash) in your browser, and send only that code to OpenAI so it can match actions to ads; it never sends the address itself. When you arrive from an ad on X, X’s pixel uses cookies to connect your visit, store-button clicks and web purchases on our site to that ad (see X’s privacy policy at x.com/privacy). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, these tools stay off until you choose Accept in our cookie banner; to change your choice later, clear this site’s data in your browser.
02 How we use information
- To provide the core service: translating and dubbing speech in real time.
- To keep you signed in across devices and apply your subscription and energy balance.
- To power history, recommendations, and curated content.
- To show and measure ads on the free tier.
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information.
03 Service providers we share with
We use trusted third parties to operate the app. They process data only to provide their service to us. Each has its own privacy policy:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
04 Data retention
We keep account and entitlement information for as long as your account is active. Activity logs are kept to provide history and improve the service, and are deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. As noted above, audio and transcripts are not retained by us.
05 Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. You can delete your account from within the app. This removes your DubMog account data. Some records may be retained where required by law.
- Microphone permission. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings; translation features will stop working until you re-enable it.
- Manage subscriptions. A subscription bought in the iPhone app is managed in your Apple Account settings, one bought in the Android app in Google Play, and one bought on our website under Manage billing at get.dubmog.com/dashboard.html.
- Emails from us. To stop promotional emails or reminders about an unfinished checkout, write to hello@dubmog.com.
- Ad personalization. You can limit ad tracking in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or deletion). Contact us at hello@dubmog.com to exercise them.
06 Children
DubMog is intended for adults 18 and over and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
07 Security and international transfers
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our providers may process data in countries other than yours; where they do, they apply appropriate safeguards.
08 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
